The sounds of rock n roll will echo off Moab’s red cliffs in September when 15 musical acts come together for a benefit for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.

Called the Big RED ROCK N Roll Show, the all day music festival will include: Bakery Politics, Gene Deal, Melissa Warner, Bernie LaForest, Gigi Love, Carolyn Toronto, Gina French, Bad Apple, Gerald Music, Stacey Board, Glade, Nanomen, David Prill, Wendy Ohlwiler and Fat Paw.

Music will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Saturday, September 16 in Moab’s Old City Park. Cost is $6 per person. In addition to music, there will be speakers and poetry reading. Proceeds from the event will go to the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, a non-profit organization advocating for federal wilderness designation in Utah’s desert country.

“This is an outreach effort to raise awareness about wilderness issues,” explains Wendy, the event organizer. “We are using music as a vehicle that allows us to reach an audience that may not otherwise be aware of SUWA. We hope people will have a good time and come away with a better understanding of the importance of wilderness and the work SUWA does.”

The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (www.suwa.org) was formed in 1983. Its mission is to protect Utah’s spectacular desert country through the passage of a comprehensive statewide wilderness bill in Congress. SUWA has a membership of 18,000 nationally, half coming from Utah.
